A SEARCH is underway for an elderly woman missing from the OzCare aged care facility in Port Douglas.

Anne Cameron, 79, has not been since since 3.30pm yesterday afternoon. The woman has been living in Port Douglas for two months after relocating from Canberra to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter.

Her family say she suffers from dementia and has poor short term memory.

“The woman is physically active and can cover a fair distance for her age,” said Senior Constable David Saxby from the Port Douglas Police.

“Obviously we are concerned for her welfare, so anyone who has seen Anne or know where she is should call the Port Douglas Police station.”

Anne Cameron is described as caucasian, approximately 165cms tall with a slim build and short grey hair. 

She was was last seen walking in Martin Scullett Drive at 3.30pm on Tuesday wearing a light/white coloured shirt and long pants, a hat and possibly carrying a walking stick.

Police and SES volunteers are currently searching the area where was last seen, with police appealing for local residents to check their yards and properties, including sheds.
