Four Mile Beach to signal 'Coral not coal'

ALMOST 1000 people lined Four Mile Beach in Port Douglas on Saturday at the inaugural Climate and Reef Awareness Beach Day.

A human sign saying ‘Coral not Coal’ was beamed around the world on social media in protest of the proposed Adani mine for North Queensland.

Event organiser Anita Everett, from the Stop Adani Douglas Shire Alliance, said the day was a ‘fantastic success’.

“The Douglas Shire Sustainability Group organised a letter writing campaign on the day to give people the opportunity to post letters to state government, to have their say on the Adani coal mine,” she said.

“It was a great day.”
