New service station planned for Paws and claws site

THINGS are happening at the former Paws and Claws site on the Captain Cook Highway.

The Craiglie block, which has an approved development application for a new service station, has been completely cleared.

The animal shelter was closed in September last year after the owner was told his DA would lapse unless construction began.

The proposed service station has caused some angst amongst the community, with a petition submitted to the Douglas Shire Council opposing the development due to environmental concerns.

Another development site also has a new look in Port Douglas, with new fencing erected at the vacant block at 71-85 Port Douglas Road.
