THE coral spawning event on the Great Barrier Reef has gripped the world, and the good news is it’s expected to occur again next month.

Divers across the planet descended on the reef last week where they were greeted to the world’s greatest live sex show, triggered by last Wednesday’s full moon.

This mass reproduction involves species of coral polyps simultaneously releasing millions of eggs and sperm into the water.

A second event is expected to occur during the December full moon.

Until then, watch a video below of the coral-spawning event shot by marine biologists and filmmakers Stuart Ireland, Gareth Phillips, Pablo Cogollos and Paul Waghorn at Moore Reef.
