Police, SES search for missing bushwalker

KURANDA



POLICE are currently coordinating a search and rescue operation to locate a missing man in rainforest near Kuranda.

Polish-born Arek Gwozdz, 38, was reported missing yesterday morning after failing to return from a bushwalk on Sunday 12 November.

Police hold concerns for his welfare as it believed he has no access to food or water and is not wearing proper clothing for the terrain.

The search and rescue operation was commenced yesterday however, an extensive air and land search of the area failed to locate the missing man.

The search recommenced at first light this morning with police and personnel from the SES conducting a land search of the area.

The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, is of a slim build with blue eyes and was last seen wearing an orange or yellow short sleeved button up shirt, dark coloured shorts and black thongs.
