Local meals on wheels gets generous Thanksgiving gift

On Monday, QT Port Douglas donated and delivered five turkeys to the Port Douglas/Mossman Meals on Wheels program, which will be duly cooked and prepared by their chefs for the members.
“This is an opportunity to take our Thanksgiving dinner at Bazaar a step further to celebrate the true spirit of the American holiday. To give thanks and give back to the community we are a part of.
“We want to create more awareness for the Meals on Wheels program run mostly by volunteers that relies on donations to supply warm meals. We have donated five turkeys in hopes others will do the same and to give something special coming into the festive season,” said QT spokesperson Jeremy Lebeuf.
On Thursday (November 23) Americans will celebrate Thanksgiving with the three F’s: Food, Family and Football (NFL) while giving thanks for all they have.
“However, Thanksgiving isn’t just about stuffing your face; it’s a pleasant reminder of the things we feel grateful for and fortunate to have in our lives.
“A big part of the holiday is being able to give a hand to those who need it within our community. And we are delighted that we can contribute in a meaningful way,” said Lebeuf.

Thanksgiving, or Thanksgiving Day, is a public holiday celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. It originated as a harvest festival. Thanksgiving has been celebrated nationally on and off since 1789, after Congress requested a proclamation by George Washington.
