UPDATE: The Kuranda Range has now been reopened. Police thanked motorists for their patience. 

EARLIER: The Kuranda Range section of the Kennedy Highway is currently blocked in both directions.

Police and emergency crews are currently at the scene of a single vehicle crash. A vehicle has overturned and has closed the road.

The crash is believed to have occurred just after 8am at Smithfield. Cairns police said the state of the occupant was still unknown.

Long delays are expected.
