Popular Ross Cavallaro will be missed
LOCAL ICON
ROSS Cavallaro, one of the true Mossman icons for some 75 years, has sadly passed away at the age of 88 and many remembered him at his funeral this week.
Long-time friend Carlo Lincini first met ‘Cavo’ as a teenager and he quickly became a popular figure and respected for his excellent work ethic, especially when he started working on the farms.
“We spent a great deal of time flying in his Tiger Moth and we would head off to Cooktown, Weipa and other parts of northern Australia where we would attend dance parties.
“I was a keen photographer back then and I was provided with great opportunities to take aerial shots on our numerous trips. It was also a real pleasure spending some time with him and I also got to know him well,” said Carlo.
Ross later made his mark in real estate in Mossman and he gave up flying to concentrate on his new interest.
“He was one of those guys who made a success of whatever he did and in the nicest way possible. He was a likeable person and made friends with everyone,” said Carlo.
