THE Bodies in Motion Dance School is producing some fantastic results at the Innisfail Dance Eisteddfod.

A total of 50 students from the Port Douglas region have been competing for the past week at the annual competition.

Principle Saskia Turner said competing in dance eisteddfods was a fantastic opportunity to develop confidence and performance quality.

“To say I’m proud is an understatement,” Turner said.

“We start working on our competition routines in January, so a lot of time and commitment goes into getting the kids ‘stage-ready’.

“Competing gives us a chance to see how we rate against other dance schools in the region.”

The dance school entered solo, duo and group routines and have already enjoyed huge success with a number of top three results.

“It is a great feeling to walk away as a place getter out of a large section of competitors,” Turner said.

“Our students are often complimented on their unique style and stage presence, which I think is something to be very proud of.

“Getting up on stage takes a lot of guts, especially as a soloist.”

The 10-day competition concludes on Friday.
