Fire crew called to Reef Resort in Port Douglas

Fire and emergency service crews are on the scene after a fire broke out at the Reef Resort this afternoon. IMAGE: Howard Salkow - Newsport.

FIRE crews have just extinguished a blaze at the Reef Resort in Port Douglas.

Two police units, an ambulance and a fire truck from the Port Douglas Fire Brigade were called after smoke was seen billowing out of one of the units.

Crew at the scene told Newsport no one was injured as the apartment was empty at the time. The cause of the fire is still unknown and will be investigated.
