Young Crocs get a taste of wet weather footy
JUNIOR CROCS
A GOOD crowd turned up at Port Douglas to watch the Crocs host Hawks and Saints teams.
Both of these clubs appeared to have some seriously talented individuals. It was exciting to see the Crocs show the locals some tough grit, determination and skilful displays throughout the day.
Continue to come to training kids, we can see the improvement in all sides as the weeks progress. It was a hive of activity in the canteen and great to see so many volunteers willing to help make the day a success.
The next week we are at the Croc Pit again so come along, have a feed at the canteen and support our future AFL superstars. Parents don’t forget to wear your runners so you can assist in umpiring and running water, your help is greatly appreciated by all at the club.
We continue to encourage more players joining the club in what is beginning to be an exciting 2017. Come on down to the club on Tuesday or Thursday to give AFL a try.

AUSKICK
(Port Douglas Fridays 4pm and Mossman Saturdays 9.30am)
Week four and ruck work was the skill, the skills session identified some already skilled tap specialists. The Auskickers also proved to be excellent rovers reading the ball out of the ruck contest. Bouncing the ball is the skill for week five.
UNDER 8
Crocs Navy v Cairns Hawks:
Crocs under 8 Navy were extremely excited to play their first home game at the Croc Pit. The boys tried hard against a good opponent in very wet conditions. Possessions and goals were hard to come by with the heavy rain. The second quarter saw two goals booted by Cooper. It was great to see Harper get in there and play his first game for the Crocs.
Players of the week: Kobe, Harper and Harry.
Crocs White v Cairns Hawks:
In wet conditions the crocs learnt how AFL is played in the southern states minus the humidity. The team seemed determined from the outset to show off their contested skills learnt at training on Thursday. It was an even contest throughout the game and easily Whites best game for the year. The half time huddle during a downpour seemed to be most exciting part of day for the team and highlighted what the game is all about. FUN!
Goal kickers: Oscar 3, Aaron 1
Players of the week: Raife, Satchin, Aaron and Oscar.
UNDER 9:
Crocs v Cairns Hawks:
In what was certainly the highlight of the day, a flood of 18 goals from the Crocs was seen by an excited home crowd. Following a goal feast in the first half the game appeared to be on level terms. In the premiership quarter the Crocs produced a super display of teamwork resulting in multiple goals to Ashton, Campbell and Michael. The boys were hot and tired by the last quarter, however still played fantastic football. Cooper G pulled down some strong marks.
Goal kickers: Everyone kicked at least one goal in an awesome team display
Players of the week: Harry, Caleb and Cooper O.
UNDER 11
Crocs v Cairns Hawks:
The Crocs played their first home game against the Hawks on Sunday morning lead by captain of the day Jack-Kenney Nimmo. The boys were out classed but put up a great fight with terrific football being demonstrated by Thero Boyd and Locky Lane. We will work harder at training this week, work on staying on our opposition player and hopefully bring home a win in front of the home crowd next Sunday.
UNDER 13
Crocs v Cairns Saints:
The first home game of the season saw the mighty Under 13’s take on a well drilled Cairns Saints team. The crocs started well with the opening goal scored by Jonte. The crocs battled on well matching it with the Saints in an outstanding last quarter.
Crocs 1.0 (6) lost to Cairns Saints 15.15 (105)
Goal kickers: Jonte
Players of the week: Sam, Jack, Jonte, Finn and Jake
UNDER 15
Crocs v Cairns Hawks:
Wet Conditions greeted the Under 15’s against the Hawks. Our boys fought hard with Jake R leading from the front for the whole game. Chas was dominant across half back taking some very strong marks. Charlie and Jake S gave 100100 per cent repelling many Hawks attacks. Tom McNally was our gun of the day refusing to give up and Dean and Brayden did evertyhing the coach asked of them. Jamie H was impressive in the back pocket. We are improving weekly with different players showing their talent throughout the first 3 rounds. Our boys gave 100 per cent and we can feel a win just around the corner.
Crocs 0.0 (0) lost to Cairns Hawks 14.19 (103)
UNDER 17 COLTS
Crocs v’s Cairns Saints:
Crash! After our heroics from round one, the Saints were too fast, strong and determined for us on Friday night. With injuries and illness affecting the team, the captains led by example but only a few followed. A determined effort and some hard running in the last quarter was a redeeming factor. Our skills and attitude will be the focus at training this week. Please be there!
Crocs 0.5 (5) lost to Cairns 10.12 (72)
Best players: Daniel, Brayden, Ryan, Reuben, Tom, Noah
