TWO people have been taken to Mossman Hospital after two-vehicle crash just north of Port Douglas

The male driver and a female passenger of a silver holden commodore were involved in a collision with a four-wheel-drive on Heritage Lane just off the Captain Cook Highway.

The male driver of the four-wheel-drive is currently assisting police ‘at another location’ according to Senior Constable Sarah Tulacz from Mossman Police.

“It’s still under investigations and we’re really unsure (of the specifics) at this stage,” Tulacz told Newsport at the scene this morning.

“It was a two vehicle traffic accident but at this stage we’re in the process of investigating.

“Both the driver and passenger have been taken to Mossman Hospital for a check up and observations. At this stage we don’t believe the injuries are life threatening.”

“The driver of the other vehicle is assisting police at another location.”

The silver commodore was in a ditch near the fence line of a property with its front-right door ripped off. It’s believed the accident occurred at around 9am.

“The other vehicle is not on scene and is being looked at at another location,” Tulacz said.

“We haven’t been able to speak to (the passengers in Mossman Hospital), once we clear the scene we’ll be able to.”
