ALL junior teams travelled to Cairns in round two to play some tremendous football. Following a seriously hot season opener the goal for this week was educating the players to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water during the week and especially the before the game.

The next two games are at the Croc pit so come along, have a feed at the canteen and support our future AFL superstars.

The Club and players appreciate the local sponsors who provide weekly awards and assist in purchasing essential equipment. Community spirit and participation is what makes the Crocs and AFL a stand out.

We continue to encourage more players joining the club in what is beginning to be an exciting 2017. Come on down to the club on Tuesday or Thursday to give AFL a try.

Auskick (Port Douglas Fridays 4pm and Mossman Saturdays 9.30am):
Week three and marking was the aim of the game with our future AFL stars learning the arts of the overhead mark, chest mark and the SPECKY. The Auskickers pretended to be their heroes pulling down hangers. Ruck work is the skill for week four.

UNDER 8
Crocs Navy v North Cairns Yellow:
Under 8 Navy faced North Cairns yellow at Holloways Beach. The Tigers were short on numbers and it was great to see Kai, Harry, Marcus and Parker all help the opposition out. A large crowd of impressive parents witnessed plenty of handballs and sharing of the footy with Kobe, Quade, Ethan and Captain Harry kicking goals for the crocs.
Players of the week: Parker, Kobe and Ethan.

Crocs White v Cairns City Lions:

On a beautiful morning a full team of Whites players turned up to picturesque Holloways Beach. The team are beginning to show some good skills and concentrated on kicking to the free player instead of the pack. This resulted in two superb goals during the day by Oscar and Cadel. It was exciting to see Saige and Satchin play their first game of AFL.
Players of the week: Oscar, Saige, Arlo Jones and Kane.

UNDER 9
Crocs v Cairns City Lions:
Under 9’s travelled to the home of the lions. The boys tried hard in another hot match and demonstrated some fantastic team play, with Harry getting us off to a flyer with an early goal. Michael played another great game and it was awesome to see another new face in Cash receive an award for great play.
Player of the day: Matthew, for his never ending run and great skill.

UNDER 11
Crocs v Cairns City Lions:
The Under 11’s travelled down to Holloways Beach for our second away game. The team was led by captain of the day Cody Knack. The kids showed improvement from their last game even though they were facing a stronger outfit. The third quarter was the best football they have displayed so far. Outstanding play from Josh Yarr, Solomon Seare and new recruits Blake and Thero gave Cash Johnston and Locky Lane (player of the day) the opportunity to score.

UNDER 13
Crocs v Pyramid Power:
The crocs started solid with two goals from Sam keeping them in the game until half time. By half time the crocs had five players wounded and in the third played 10 average minutes of football that saw the power run away with the game. In the final quarter the wounded crocs were resilient in defence and held the Power to one goal. Good effort crocs, and to Powers credit they were the better team on the day.

Crocs 2.4 (16) lost to Pyramid Power 9.7 (61)
Goal kickers: Sam wall 2
Players of the week: Jessie, Reef, X-man and Ewan.

UNDER 17 COLTS

Crocs v South Cairns:
The colts played their first game for the year and came away with an exciting victory. The first quarter was even with Daniel kicking a goal. Ben and Fraser were strong at the contest from the outset, with great defensive pressure coming from Ryan, Noah and Reuben. The intercept marking by Rex turned many Cutters attacks back to the crocs advantage. The move of sending Brayden forward was inspirational. All these factors kept the crocs in the game at three-quarter-time trailing 14-32. In the last following a tremendous piece of play beginning in the Ruck from Tom to Daniel to Brayden GOAL, the flood gates opened with six more goals being kicked to run away with the game.

Crocs 8.9 (57) defeated South Cairns 5.2 (32)
Goal Kickers: Conrad (Carl) Hinz 2, Braydon Wall 2, Lachlan Mous 2, River Howson 1, Daniel Davidson 1 and Angus 1.
Best Players: Daniel, Brayden, Fraser, Ryan, Tom, Noah and Harry
