Mossman Port Douglas Treelopping or MPDT are in Bowen assisting with the clean-up caused by Cyclone Debbie

It has not taken long for the Douglas Shire to react to the devastation caused by Cyclone Debbie and already Mossman Port Douglas Treelopping is in Bowen assisting with the clean-up.

Company spokesman Billy Quade said there is a 10-man crew in Bowen and an additional 40-50 men are on standby in Mossman waiting for the call.

“This is something we are renowned for and we are delighted that we can assist an area that has been badly hit,” said Quade.

Mossman Port Douglas Treelopping is a family-owned and operated company that serves customers in Cairns, the Tablelands, Innisfail, Tully, Mareeba, Mossman and Port Douglas.

Bellview Motel in Cairns, operated by Crystalbrook Collection, has opened its doors in a gesture of goodwill and support for those severely affected by Cyclone Debbie.

The motel has reached out to the communities impacted by the category 4 tropical cyclone that battered the coast earlier this week, offering free temporary accommodation to those in need.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Douglas Shire Council said Council had not received any requests for assistance “at this stage.”
