Man flown to hospital in critical condition after crash

A man was flown to Cairns Hospital overnight with life threatening injuries after a crash near Atherton.

A 25-year-old man was airlifted to Cairns Hospital overnight in a critical condition after a serious crash near Atherton.

The man, from Georgetown, is alleged to have lost control of his vehicle before colliding with a power pole at around 2.45am this morning. He was flown to Cairns in a Rescue 510 Helicopter with life threatening injuries.
Police are investigating the single vehicle accident on the Atherton-Malanda Road, Upper Barron, and approximately 300 metres south of Mooma Road.

The passenger, a 24-year-old Yungaburra man, was conveyed to the Atherton Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses to the crash or the manner of driving of the blue 2003 Peugeot prior to the crash, to contact police.
