A CONFIDENT Port Douglas meet Manunda Hawks this weekend in a match they’re expected to win.

Despite being ravaged with injury and unavailability in the early part of the season the Crocs have won their opening two matches in impressive fashion.

Their first up victory over Cairns Saints was full of character considering the controversy after forfeiting their pre-season cup grand final to the same opponent. They were also without a swag of key players but still managed to get the job done.

Last weekend was a tricky fixture against Centrals Trinity Beach, made all the more difficult without the calming influence of coach Brad Cooper.

Veteran defender Wes Glass took the reigns for the day and showed why he is held in such high esteem at the club. He led from the front on-field, but also made some decisive moves in the second half including sending Matt Medcraft forward, who made an impact in his second game for the club.

The Crocs take on the Hawks tomorrow at Cazalys Stadium and will be looking extend unbeaten start to the season. Manunda has shown it’s not a walk over this year despite going down to Centrals Trinity Beach and South Cairns Cutters in the first two rounds. The Bulldogs and Cutters are both expected to play finals this year with the latter currently sitting on top of the AFL Cairns ladder with a whopping percentage of 316.67 per cent.
