NEED to get to the airport from Port Douglas this weekend?

Just a heads up, a number of roads will be fully closed from 6am on Sunday 11 June due to the Cairns Ironman, with detours in place all day.

For those catching a flight from Cairns, extra travel time will be needed to get to the airport especially between the hours of 10am - 6pm.

Bus operators will still run but will travel via the Mulligan Highway and Kennedy Highway, with event organisers saying to allow between five and five-and-a-half hours to get to Cairns via the alternate route.

The cycle leg of the full marathon will fly through Port Douglas and down Macrossan Street, where a live stage will be set up for much of the day.

Quicksilver will be operating a boat service between Port Douglas and Cairns on Sunday. Reservations can only be made by phone or email on (07) 4044 9944 or centralres@greatadventures.com.au
