PORT Douglas host a resurgent Cairns Saints tomorrow at the Port Douglas Sporting Complex.

The Saints have revived their finals aspirations with three straight victories, including an upset win over Centrals Trinity Beach at Griffiths Park in round 15.

The 14-point triumph over the second placed Bulldogs and a convincing 96-point win over North Cairns before the bye has seen them move to within a game of the top four.

But to keep their streak alive they’ll need to end the Crocs unbeaten run of 14 this year, and at a venue they were humiliated at earlier this year.

Port handed the Saints their biggest loss in the club’s proud history in May with a 32.15 (207 to 12.8 (80) thrashing at the Croc Pit. Captain Kye Chapple booted 16 that afternoon as the Crocs celebrated their Pink in the Tropics game in style.

Port Douglas had seven players involved in North Queensland’s five-goal loss to South Queensland in Saturday’s representative game at Cazalys Stadium.

Defender Wes Glass was arguably the best player for NQ while Chapple and Matthew Medcraft both kicked three goals. All three will be vital cogs in the Port machine tomorrow which should roll over the Saints again.

In another intriguing AFL Cairns fixture, the fourth-placed Hawks tackle Centrals in a clash likely to have finals ramifications.
