PORT Douglas is home to the best seafood restaurant in the North.

2Fish Port Douglas has again brought home top honours, winning best seafood restaurant in North Queensland at the 2017 Savour Restaurant and Catering Awards for the second year in a row on Monday.

General Manager Meg Oatley said she was very proud of her staff who continue to raise the bar.

“The welcoming professional service, and stylish arty environment has made 2 Fish a place that people love coming to. There's nowhere else like it," she said.

“Head Chef Adam Ion's creative flair for creating incredible dishes from fresh local seasonal produce has put 2 Fish on the map."

Ion said he was very happy with the award and attributed their success to having a strong team working to achieve the same goal.

“We have a very high standard of service. There is new management in this year and its going really well,” Ion said.

Ion, originally from Scotland, has had training in Ireland and France before taking over as head chef at 2Fish six years ago.

“I just have a passion for seafood. We use fish right of the reef and use local produce as much as we can to support locals,” he said.

This award is the newest addition in a long list of awards 2Fish has won including best Seafood restaurant in Australia in 2016 which it is now in the running for again this year.

Other finalists in the 2017 Savour Restaurant and Catering Awards in Port Douglas were Lure Restaurant, Salsa Bar & Grill and On the Inlet Seafood Restaurant.
