DIVE operator Divers Den is writing a new chapter in its history spanning more than 40 years with its arrival in Port Douglas.

One of Cairns’ longest established reef operators, the company’s brand new, purpose built vessel AquaQuest has arrived and commences its daily dive and snorkel service from Port Douglas to the Agincourt, St. Crispins and Opal Reefs this week.

The 25-metre catamaran cruised into the marina after a 12-day journey from Thailand where it was commissioned and built under the close eye of Divers Den owner and director Tony Physick.

Divers Den General Manager, Sonjha Forbes said the investment and expansion - valued at $5 million, - would add to the Port Douglas dive market and was part of a five-year plan aimed at repositioning the company with state-of-the-art vessels and operations catering to the needs of a more ‘sophisticated and discerning’ market.

“There has been a concerted effort by the company to revitalise and raise the bar for greater choice, flexibility and range of experiences,” Forbes said.

“For the Divers Den team, today’s launch of AquaQuest is a real cause for celebration and caps off a few very busy years paving the way for exciting times ahead.”

AquaQuest is the only day trip vessel operating in Far North Queensland that has its own on-board nitrox filling facilities and buddy diving for a more carefree diving experience.

Added to the Port Douglas service and vessel is a booking office and retail shop in Macrossan Street along with daily return transfers servicing visitors staying in Cairns and the Northern Beaches.
