Mossman whipping up 'dangerous and impossible' show

THE Mossman Showgrounds will come alive this long weekend with two action packed days planned for the whole family.
While the kids may get excited for the rides and show bags at the Mighty Mossman Show, there’s also plenty on offer for adults this Sunday and Monday July 23-24.

Mikayla began riding at the age of six after becoming enthralled by a trick riding performance in Brisbane.
“At that point I turned to my parents and said that I was going to do that one day,” she said.
By nine she began stunt riding and has since travelled the world performing in Los Angeles, at the Calgary Stampede in Canada and on the Gold Coast at the Australian Outback Spectacular.
She’s now returned home and is doing her first full Queensland solo tour.
“The performances are full of dangerous and impossible seeming stunts on the back of a horse,” Mikayla said.
She’ll be performing three acts at the Mossman Show; a liberty dance routine of bare back free riding, a roman riding routine involving standing on the back of two horses, and of course her trick riding routine.
Walter Whip and the Flames is another show not to be missed. Expert whip cracker Walter ‘Whip’ LeSouef will not only crack whips, but whips that are on fire. He’ll also cut a rose out of his assistance mouth with a burning whip. He’ll be holding free workshops throughout the weekend teaching basic whip cracking skills for everyone to learn.
The Memphis Moovers will also keep you entertained while you wander the show grounds with roving musical performances on wheels. The Maranos Fuel Fireworks Spectacular will finish up the weekend on the Monday night.
