SPORTING and community groups are being encouraged to get involved in the Building Active Connected Communities (BaCC) FNQ initiative to access thousands of dollars for your club.

BaCC raised more than $1million for local organisations last year and celebrated with a special presentation at the Clink Theatre in Port Douglas.

All group members, sponsors and supporters are invited to attend the same venue tonight from 6pm where they’ll hear about success stories and how BaCC is giving back to the community.

"Accessing funding can make all the difference for club's or community group’s access to much needed infrastructure or simply help establish their own income streams,” BaCC Director Sam Cullen said.

"I heavily encourage groups and clubs to find out how they can easily access these funding streams"

Federal Leichhardt MP Mr Warren Entsch has also partnered with BaCC – an initiative of the Bendigo Bank, which has been supporting local organisations for many years through small grants and sustainable revenue streams.

The BaCC initiative began in 200 and provides a simple model for local not-for-profits to generate consistent income streams by meeting their banking needs through the Bendigo Bank.

New Bendigo Bank Port Douglas Branch Manager Angela Whittaker said local clubs, projects and other community groups were an integral part of the community.

“We all need banking, whether it be home loan, credit card, insurance or simply accounts, we at Bendigo Bank have developed a community enterprise to enable your banking to support our local community,” Whittaker said.

“This is a unique model, designed for here, by locals, for locals.”

If you would like to know how your organisation can get involved get to the Clink Theatre tonight from 6pm. You can also visit the website, Facebook page or your local Bendigo Bank Branch.
