A WOMAN has been stung driving with an alcohol reading more than four times the legal limit.

Not only that, the 47-year-old Palm Cove woman allegedly narrowly missed an oncoming police car in Yorkeys Knob yesterday morning while driving on the wrong side of the road. The marked vehcile was forced to take evasive action before stopping her on Evans Street at around 10am.

Officers from the Cairns Road Police Unit asked her if she knew where she was and she allegedly replied that she was in Palm Cove, however could not remember driving there.

She subsequently returned a breath alcohol reading of .218 and was charged with driving whilst under the influence of liquor or a drug.

She will appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this month.
