POLICE  and emergency service crews were called to the site of a single vehicle crash, approximately half way up the Kuranda Range at about 7.40am today.

Both lanes have been closed on the Kennedy Highway, with crews working to clear the road. It's hopeful one lane of traffic will be opened in the next 30 minutes but motorists should expect lengthy delays.

RoadTek crews are currently trying to clear a diesel spill on the range, with commuters urged to delay travel or take an alternative route.

A woman is currently receiving medical treatment for chest injuries and is expected to be transported to Cairns Hospital once stabilised.
