Alleged indecent assault during ‘water ritual’ in Mossman

A MAN has been charged with two counts of indecent assault after inviting a woman to take part in a ‘water ritual’ in Mossman.

Detectives charged a 44 -year-old man yesterday following an incident at a local rest area in the Far North community. 

It will be alleged the man approached a female tourist, who was camping at the area with her friend, and invited her to partake in a ‘water ritual’ at the nearby river.

The woman accompanied the man, where he allegedly indecently assaulted her. 

“She immediately left the area and subsequently reported the incident,” a Queensland police spokesperson said.

“She was not physically injured as a result of the incident.”

“Detectives spoke with the man just before 9am yesterday and he was taken into custody.”

He was charged with two counts of indecent assault and is due to appear in the Mossman Magistrates Court on December 20.
