MONEY FIGHT: Irish MMA superstar Conor McGregor will meet undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather Jnr on Sunday 27 August.

FANS itching to see the famed ‘Money Fight’ between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor can now do so on the big screen.

Due to overwhelming demand in what is one of the biggest prize fights in history, an exclusive partnership between Event Cinemas Cairns City, Foxtel and Fox Sports has been formed to give Far North Queensland punters a virtual ringside seat with big sound live on Sunday 27 August from 11am.

The fight will bring the undefeated king of boxing (Mayweather 49-0) against the Irish superstar of MMA (McGregor 22-3) in an event which has captured the imagination of the world.

“We are excited to screen this epic boxing event live… (it will be) as if they are virtually sitting ringside enjoying sliders and beers,” said Andrew McNicol General Manager of Event Cairns City.

Pubs across Port Douglas are also predicted to be full on Sunday 27 August. Given the Irish support and the huge popularity of McGregor on Australian shores, interest has been unprecedented.


It is forecast to become the biggest pay-per-view event ever, surpassing the previous record of 4.4 million buys set by Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in 2015.
