PORT Douglas police are investigating the brazen theft of four custom wheels on a distinctive Landcruiser near the marina.

Phil Harman went to retrieve his 2007 model 79 Series Landcrusier across from Hemingway’s Brewery on Saturday morning only to find it jacked up and missing all four wheels.

It’s believed CCTV footage is currently being examined which shows a white Landcruiser arriving at The Reef Marina carpark around 3am on Saturday 12 August.

“They were brand new and very distinctive wheels,” Harman told Newsport.

“Either they (thieves) knew exactly what they wanted, or they’re in for a surprise.

Harman and his wife, Cheryl, own property in Port Douglas and are looking to move here permanently from Melbourne in the next couple of years. They’ve had their boat at the marina since 2015.

He said they'd been 'overwhelmed' by the support of the community since the theft.

“We’re looking to make Port Douglas home,” he said.

“Although this hasn’t been ideal, we’ve been given a great insight into the generosity of this community in the aftermath.

“We’ve had a fantastic response from the Port Douglas public and everyone has been willing to help.”
