PORT Douglas skipper Jack Sprouster said it was like winning Tattslotto.

The keen fisherman was on his way back from the reef yesterday when Migaloo the famous white whale decided to pay him a visit halfway between Snapper Island and Low Isles.

SCROLL TO WATCH THE INCREDIBLE FOOTAGE

“We were actually in a bit of a hurry to get back and he (Migaloo) just free jumped and flew into a big breach in front of us,” a pumped Sprouster told Newsport.

“I was like ‘is that his belly’…then he came up. I was absolutely stoked and so excited.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever seen him.”

Jack, originally from Hamilton Island, quickly grabbed his drone and captured some of the most breathtaking footage ever seen of the rare humpback whale off the coast of Port Douglas. Keeping a safe legal distance out of respect for the animal, Migaloo can be seen blissfully moving through the water with ease in the video.

“I won’t experience that ever again,” Jack said with a smile.

“It’s like winning the biggest lotto in the world, you just won’t be able do it again.

“Even if people could track him now and know that he was in Port Douglas today, you’d have to go out to the reef and zig zag back and forth and hope that he came to the surface.

“You just can’t plan that."
