A SUNBAKING crocodile has given onlookers a memorable end to their day in Port Douglas.

The saltwater crocodile was basking in the hot afternoon sun on a pontoon at The Reef Marina as tour boats returned from a day on the Great Barrier Reef.

Guests on a Calypso reef cruise got a birds eye view of the animal, estimated to be just over two-metres in length, while a couple on a pontoon boat also took the opportunity to take a closer look.

It’s not the first time a crocodile has been spotted on the floating deck at the marina, with a similar sized reptile snapped there last year.

The croc only decided to slip back into the water after a Wavelength charter approached its berth space, as captured by Newsport below.
