POLICE are investigating the circumstances of a traffic crash that likely led to the discovery of a man’s body in Cape Tribulation yesterday.

Shortly before 3pm, Mossman police were called to Cape Tribulation Road following reports of a ute in Little Creek, Diwan, just south of Turpentine Road.

On arrival, police located a man lying on the creek bed. Members of the public had pulled him from the vehicle, and emergency services declared the 37-year-old local man deceased at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit attended the scene to commence investigations. At this stage, the time and cause of the traffic incident is unknown.

Preliminary investigations suggest the crash occurred sometime between 10pm last night and 2.40pm this afternoon.
