Mossman doctor in line to be the next Bondi Vet

NEW STAR

MOSSMAN vet Dr Susan Roberts is the front-runner to be cast as the new Bondi Vet on the hit television program.

Dr Roberts has been nominated by a host of her clients and is currently the leading contender as the Channel 10 ratings winner scours the country for new talent.

"It's quite humbling," Dr Roberts told Newsport.

"It was nice to be nominated and to be the most popular vet on the program's website at the moment was unexpected.

"Just shows that everyone is coming together and voting. It would be a big boost for the community if I happen to win."

The Douglas Shire has the opportunity to get behind Dr Roberts by sharing experiences about her on the Bondi Vet website. People have been flooding the page with glowing endorsements of her work with their beloved pets.

And her love for animals extends far beyond the surgery room. Two wallabies sleep in her bedroom at night, an echidna lives in her lounge room, while a whistling kite can be found in her entertaining area. She also has four dogs and a cat.

"The fact a small town vet could be getting more votes than big city nominations is both humbling and a little mind blowing," she said.

"I never expected such a response and it's very heartwarming to know people support and appreciate what I do."

If successful, the national exposure would be huge not just for Dr Roberts, but the Port Douglas and Daintree region. Filming would take place at her Mossman Veterinary Surgery with the network keen to showcase the natural beauty within the Shire.

So what are you waiting for, visit the website and share your experiences to help Dr Roberts become the next Bondi Vet.
