THE Port Douglas State School held its annual inter-house cross-country event yesterday.

Starting next to the Surf Life Saving Club, the students competed on what is surely one of the most spectacular courses in Australia.

The winning sports house for this year was Djilibiri, with its team members making fast work of the beautiful stretch along Four Mile Beach.

Kirrbaji and Girra Girra finished in a tie for second place, while Bundarra was third.

“It was a fabulous day and is one of the most popular events on the school sporting calendar," school teacher Kerry Budgen said.

“We would like to give a big shout out to the PDSS P&C committee for all their support with transporting our students to Four Mile Beach, and to all the teachers and school staff.

“Also, a special thanks also to Sam from the Tuckshop and her awesome parent helpers for all the yummy food.”
