THE sun shone brightly on Macrossan Street for the Port Douglas Anzac Day parade and service.

WWII veterans were joined by community groups and school's across the region as tourists and locals lined the street to pay their respects.

The march made its way towards the Cenotaph at Anzac Park where hundreds converged for a moving service.

Many then flocked to the Central Hotel for the traditional 'two-up' ring from 11am. The game, made famous by Australian Diggers during wartime, was played in great spirit and revelry in what is one of the biggest days on the Port Douglas community calendar.
