PORT Douglas captain Kye Chapple and Jesse Mawson have combined to kick 22 goals between them in the Crocs 283-point whitewash of Cairns City Lions on Saturday.

Chapple was irrepressible at full-forward slamming home 14 majors while Mawson continued his sensational start to the AFL Cairns season with an eight-goal haul.

The top-of-the-table Crocs were expected to smash the winless Lions but the final scoreline of 46.21 (297) to 2.2 (14) had many at the club reaching for the record books. They had opened up an incredible 73-point lead by quarter time, booting 12.1 to 1.0 for the term with midfielder Pete Bury and Todd Shapter continually sending the Crocs forward.

By half-time the margin had already blown out to 129 points and the match descended into a train-wreck after the break with the reigning premier doing as they pleased against the hapless Lions. Matthew Medcraft and Nick Goodman also impressed for the Crocs.

The competition will be a lot fiercer this weekend when Port Douglas take on South Cairns in the grand final replay at Fretwell Park.
