MOSSMAN police didn’t have to look far to find two alleged thieves who had bogged their vehicle on a muddy track in cane fields near the Killaloe dump in the early hours of Anzac Day.

Witnesses alerted police after tools, parts and radios were stolen from the Killaloe dump workshop at around 1am.

It didn’t take officers long to find the pair attempting to remove their sedan from a muddy bog in a foiled get-away with the stolen property.

A 27-year-old Kewarra Beach man was charged with entering a premises and committing an indictable offence, and unlawful possession of a knife.

A 31-year-old Woree man was charged with entering a premises and committing an indictable offence.

It follows a spate of crime in the Mossman area recently which has included a number of car and other property related thefts.

Both men are scheduled to appear at the Mossman Magistrates Court on May 10.
