INTERNATIONALLY acclaimed singer-songwriter Ben Lee, the headline act for next month’s Port Douglas Carnivale, said he was ‘absolutely excited’ to be making his first appearance as an artist in the town.

“I haven't played there before and some of my fans up there on my social media got very excited, so very much looking forward to it,” Lee told Newsport.

“I’m always grateful when someone asks me to come and share my songs, and offers to pay me! I really do have my dream job.”

Activities across Carnivale weekend from May 26-28 are already stacked, while shows in the popular Wonderland Spiegeltent have again been booked from May 19.

Lee will perform at the Port on a Fork - Food, Music and Wine Festival at Rex Smeal Park and will also be holding a songwriting workshop on his visit.

“I am interested in connecting with human hearts that are beating,” Lee said.

“Magic can happen anywhere those conditions are met. I’m not particularly geographically minded.”

All entrants into the Carnivale Songwriters Challenge this year will receive a pass to attend Lee’s ‘Songwriting Towards Virtue’ workshop on 27 May.

Led personally by the multi-ARIA award-winner and humanitarian, the workshop is designed to examine song writing from a new consciousness perspective with Ben guiding aspiring songwriters through his own methods and creative writing process.
