UPDATE 3.35pm: The Mossman Daintree Rd has been cleared following an accident and is now open for motorists.

EARLIER: A serious accident on the Captain Cook Highway is expected to cause lengthy delays this afternoon.

The highway is closed north of Miallo at Saltwater Bridge following the accident. It is unknown if anyone is injured. Motorists have been encouraged to take a detour around the crash scene via Bamboo Creek Rd.
