Port Douglas produces perfect conditions for surf life saving carnival

Perfect conditions greeted competitors at the Port Douglas Surf Life Saving Club championships on the weekend. IMAGES: Mark Murray - Newsport.

PORT Douglas hosted the Far North Queensland Surf Life Saving Carnival over the weekend at Four Mile Beach.

Competitors from seniors to nippers battled it out over two action packed days drawing high praise from everyone who attended.

Members from the Port Douglas, Cairns, Mission Beach, Ellis Beach and Etty Bay Surf Life Saving Clubs competed in favourable conditions with many personal best times achieved.

“We’d like to give a huge thank you to our volunteer officials, water safety and the wonderful canteen crew,” Said Alex Heidke from the Port Douglas SLSC.

“Your efforts are very much appreciated. Congratulations to all who competed over the weekend, the carnival was a huge success.”
