PORT Douglas pair Emily Perry and Karlie Albury will show their support for locals affected by women’s cancers by getting the girls together for a jewellery showcase tomorrow night.

The Rose&Boy co-owners will host a Girls’ Night In event, from 6pm until 9pm on Thursday, October 20 at their fashion boutique, in support of Cancer Council Queensland.

Girls’ Night In is an opportunity for locals to get their friends together for a night of fundraising to give hope to the one in six Queensland women diagnosed with breast or gynaecological cancer in their lifetime.

Perry said they were inspired to host a Girls’ Night In as they know many people who have been affected by cancer, from family to clients.

This is our second year hosting a Girls’ Night In – it’s a great excuse to get the girls together and support a good cause,” Perry said.

Attendees will enjoy a showcase of the new Samantha Wills collection, dessert, a refreshment and special offers.

“The main focus will be the jewellery, but there will also be the chance for guests to look at our fashions,” Ms Perry said.

“We have also just relocated and are down the street from where we were previously, so people will be able to see our brand new space.

“There are only 10 tickets left and proceeds go to Cancer Council Queensland.”

In Far North Queensland alone, more than 240 women will be diagnosed with breast or gynaecological cancer this year, and around 40 will die from these women’s cancers. Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift said Queenslanders who hosted, or attended, a Girls’ Night In made a big difference in the fight against cancer.

“Women have never needed an excuse to get together, but if ever there was one – Girls’ Night In is it!” Clift said.

“Girls’ Night In is also an opportunity for women to get together and talk about their health.

“From sharing healthy recipes to fitness tips, checking up on cancer screening and sharing personal stories – we want women to connect over their health and wellbeing.”

All funds raised for Girls’ Night In will be invested in vital cancer research, patient support services and prevention programs for women affected by breast and gynaecological cancers.
