Four charged in Mount Carbine drug bust as police seize cannabis crop

FOUR men have been charged following the location and seizure of a significant cannabis crop near Mount Carbine.

Officers from the Far North District Drug Squad descended on a Mulligan Highway property just before 1pm on Saturday and detained four men who were allegedly engaged in processing of harvested cannabis.

Officers seized nearly 800 mature cannabis plants from two growing plots as well as approximately 80 kilograms of dried cannabis at the well-equipped campsite.

The four men, a 40-year-old from Dimbulah, a 43-year-old from Mareeba, a 50-year-old from Atherton and a Bartle Frere man aged 57, were each charged with production of a dangerous drug and possession of a dangerous drug

They are scheduled to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on November 14.
