THE Port Douglas State School launched its I Love My Library campaign this week as part of Book Month.

Douglas Shire Mayor Julia Leu addressed a huge turnout in the school’s basketball stadium and praised the initiative.

Leu, who also sits on the Queensland Library Board and is the Chairperson of the Public Libraries Advisory Committee, was joined by Sargent Damien Meadows, Jill Bickford and Tessa Bickford at the special assembly and morning tea.

Through Book Month, the school hopes to increase the number of quality books in the library and encourage students to further engage in reading and literary pursuits.

If you have any books you would like to donate contact the Port Douglas State School Library page.
