LOCAL fish and chip shop Dave’s Takeaway is gunning for a third straight gong at the 2016 Douglas Business & Tourism Awards this Friday night.

The iconic takeaway store in the heart of Port Douglas has been voted the regions Best Take-Away for the last two years and is again a finalist in the category.

“It’s great recognition for the shop and all our staff,” said owner Dave Lowe, who has been running the business with his wife Leanne for the past five years.

“It’s nice to know we’re up for an award again and hopefully we can make it three on the trot.”

The crème de la crème of the region's businesses will be recognised at the Sheraton Mirage Port Douglas Resort on Friday when the winners of the 2016 Douglas Business & Tourism Awards are announced.

Limited tickets are still available for the Gala ceremony at The Glades function centre. The evening kicks off at 6pm with pre-drinks on the red carpet before the awards get underway at 7pm sharp.
