The Yachty digs deep to help out Mossman SES
HELP NEEDED
THE Port Douglas Yacht Club has answered a call for help from the local SES by donating $500 to the Mossman Unit.
The SES is currently doing a fundraising drive to repair a 1000 litre bulk supply fridge, which distributes food and drinks in operational times.
The fridge has already broken down five times and with the upcoming storm season forecast to be active, the Mossman SES is desperate to get it fixed.
“We have exhausted all our funds in out fitting a new Response Trailer to assist the local community, so this donation by the Port Douglas Yacht Club is invaluable,” Mossman SES Unit Local Controller, Stephen Burg said.
"We've had a number of local clubs and businesses already reach out to us which is greatly appreciated
“Any assistance we can get from the local community will be gratefully accepted."
The Mossman SES Unit needs $4500 to replace the fridge and is calling on the community to help in any way they can. The Mossman Bowls Club has already donated a temporary fridge, while The Courthouse Hotel and Country Women's Association have committed to the cause.
“Hopefully we can get some more support for the hard working men and women volunteers of the SES through more local donations,” said Richard Stapleton, Port Douglas Yacht Club Manager
“Any donation will go a long way in helping them out as they are a crucial part of the community."
