It was a spectacular night for a moondance in Port Douglas on Monday and Tuesday night.

More than a hundred lined Four Mile Beach to catch a glimpse of the supermoon, which was the biggest and brightest since 1948.

Those that didn’t see it on Monday had another opportunity last night. Although it technically wasn't a supermoon, it was almost as big!

According to NASA, the supermoon shone more than 30 per cent brighter than normal, and we won't see Another one like it until 2034.

These are the 11 best snaps taken from around Port Douglas.
