MOSSMAN detectives have charged a 24-year-old man following a break-in at Barbados bar in Port Douglas.

The man, from Port Douglas, allegedly broke into the popular sundowner location at The Reef Marina around 4am on Monday 5 September, stealing a large sum of money.

Mossman police raided the man’s Port Douglas Road residence and seized a number of items as part of the investigation, before charging him with breaking and entering and stealing yesterday.

Barbados management declined to comment when contacted by Newsport today.

The man will appear in the Mossman Magistrates Court on December 7.

It follows the arrest of a 15-year old Manunda boy yesterday in relation to several recent property incidents in Port Douglas. The youth allegedly committed burglary and theft offences in Port Douglas, Gordonvale, Edmonton, and Cairns over the weekend.

He was charged with four counts each of burglary and unlawful use of motor vehicles, two counts of stealing and one count of entering premises and stealing.
