FOR 12-year-old Cameron Johnson, catching giant black marlin in Far North Queensland must seem easy.

Cameron’s family, from Florida, have been fishing all over the world but the youngster had yet to catch a black marlin.

That all changed on Tuesday after he hooked a 1100 pound monster on board a five day fishing charter with Port Douglas based Zulu Gamefishing and Levante Fishing Charters on Tuesday.

The keen angler was locked in a 45 minute battle on the chair with the gigantic fish, which was estimated to weigh close to a ton. The joy on Cameron’s face was palpable once he’d realised of his fishing dreams, giving high-fives to crew and holding his arms in the air in triumph.
