A MAN involved in a serious traffic crash in Yungaburra on Saturday has died in hospital.

The 24-year-old male passenger suffered serious head injuries and was transported to hospital in Cairns, where he died last night.

The male driver of the car, also a 24, suffered a broken ankle from the crash. His vehicle was travelling along Lake Barrine Road at around 6am on Saturday morning when it lost control and struck an embankment.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident and asks anyone who may have information which may assist, to please contact them.
