REIGNING premier Port Douglas has officially launched its 2017 campaign with pre-season training getting underway.

The Crocs will again be led by dual premiership coach Brad Cooper, who was quickly re-signed following the club’s brilliant grand final triumph over South Cairns.

The AFL Queensland Senior Coach of the Year has already managed to keep the bulk of his list together ahead of the club's first session at the Port Douglas Sporting Complex.

The Crocs will also kick-start their quest for back-to-back flags under a new president, with Chris Bradsworth taking over from Greg Nicholson.

“The club is in really good shape heading into pre-season,” Bradsworth said

“We are absolutely rapt to have Brad Cooper on board again. I’ve never come across someone so astute and meticulous in the way he prepares football teams.

“We think we’re in for another exciting year.”

Bradsworth, who was the Croc’s Vice-President last year, said he had ‘big shoes to fill’ but was looking forward to the challenge of replacing the popular Nicholson.

“Greg has been outstanding for this football club and I’ve certainly got my work cut out taking over from him,” Bradsworth said.

“But I’m excited by it, and I'm really looking forward to sinking my teeth into the role. We have a great Board at the club and I think we will all spread the load, which hopefully should have us knocking on the door again come finals time.”

The Crocs will train every Wednesday night leading up to Christmas, with all new and existing players encouraged to attend.
