BUILDING Active Connected Communities (BaCC) in Far North Queensland has reached a huge milestone of raising more than $1 million since it started in 2009, in partnership with Bendigo Bank.

BaCC Chairman Stephen Devenish said the initiative promoted great outcomes for the community’s health, education, sporting and environmental groups.

“Listening to the community groups share how the funds they receive are making a difference to their individual projects is great to see,” Devenish said.

“The highlights of the year for us are always the presentation nights, where we celebrate funds raised for the community, hand out well deserved cheques, and see how well we work together to build the prosperity of the local community.”

The BaCC model is a not-for-profit organisation, with members and supporters generating ongoing income stream by meeting their banking needs through Bendigo Bank.

The more business they do with Bendigo Bank, the more money BaCC receives through commission paid to BaCC nominated accounts. BaCC then passes this income onto not-for-profit organisations based on the value of funds attached to the organisation.

“We help not-for-profits generate ongoing income with no effort on their part, and there is no cost to the organisations or their supporters to be part of BaCC,” Devenish said.

“The amount we have reached reflects our growth, and I’d like to thank our Board, Bendigo Bank and their customers for supporting our not for profit groups and community initiatives.”
