WITH mixed media reporting on the severity of coral bleaching on the Great Barrier Reef, Newsport contributor Rosie Wang decided to get an independent reaction from tourists returning from a day at the reef.

The overwhelming consensus was the reef sites near Port Douglas are continuing to amaze visitors to our region, something local operators have been saying for over a month.

The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority is currently surveying the reefs near Port Douglas and a report is expected to be released next week.
